Cairo’s Skate Spots

Cairo is a motivating place to skate. There are spots for all levels of skateboarding, beginners, amatures and advance levels. A lot of skaters find it difficult to locate skate spots in Cairo so if that’s you, then you will find this extremely  useful as guide to skateboarding in Cairo.

Tiba Mall
Tiba Mall is located on the Nasr Road in Nasr City. Tiba Mall has a wide variety of obstacles. There are 2 sets, 4 sets ( 2 of them ) , 6 sets  and The Masjid Rahman Gap. Tiba Malls ground is absolutely  Stunning. From personal experience i have never skated on such ground before. Guaranteed you will land your tricks clean and roll away clean on those marble platforms. This is all too good to be true but it is however there is one main issue with the spot. Its those Security Guards and that refers to all the spots. DON’T LET THEM RUIN YOUR DAY. Here’s what you do to avoid them. Be friendly, bribe them, negotiation and convincing. Try to make him satisfied. Reason with him.
Its recommended that you go there at Fridays where the securities are not there.

Salsa Skate Spot

This is not the best spots but its pretty good. On the other hand, this one of the spots that you will least get kicked out of only if you go there after 3 pm because there is a bank there and the workers will kick you out. Salsa is somewhere in the middle of the ” Merghany Road ” in Heliopolis. Salsa has 2 ledges and an open area with good platform. There are some kids that come from time to time to play soccer because they find an open area to play in so watch out for that.

Airport
This is the most visited spot in Cairo it has almost everything a skater would want, It has set, gaps , banks, manual pads , ledges ,rails, ramps and smooth ground. The airport is a big place but the main place is at the obelisk where there are the banks, the 5 sets ( wide ones ), the marble ledges and the Gap
you can skate the gap if you get a lift to the top banks using the help of a friend or so. But this can get dangerous because the security can see you and will think you are destroying it or something (yes i know that’s a bit weird) . Next to the obelisk there is the bus station which has the manual pads be careful though, there are a lot of buses coming and going from and to the station. Behind the manual pads is the ” BANQUE MISR” and it has the Huge Ramp/Downhill.  Then if you walk to the Air Mall you will find a 6 set and and couple of silver painted rails on the ground . After that over at the Terminal Building there are 2 Gaps. Keep in mind that this is the “Old Airport” not the new one.

2. Bus Station ( Manual Pads )
3. Huge Ramp/Downhill
4. Airmall
5. Terminal 1 Gaps

Shorouk Club

This is one of my favorite spots for 3 reasons
1. The chances of you getting kicked out are 5%
2. It has many obstacles and almost everything you need
3. The place is empty and nobody complains

This spot is located inside the Shorouk compound near the mirage city in New Cairo. The spot is filled with many great spots and different obstacles. It has a wide skateboarding/rollerskating ring and surround with banks. It has an 8 set with a hubba ( you need to wax it though ). There is a bushes gap with good run up. There is another wide open space area all marble platformed with a 3 sets gap. This spot is good and everything. But there is one main disadvantage. That is you have to be accompanied by a Heliopolis member and the ticket is 20 on weekends

Tahrir Spot

Tahrir is one of those spots that motivates you to skate. Just by looking at the ground makes you feel that you just need to skate. Its located in the Tahrir Square next to the old AUC Campus and in front of the Nile Hilton. The platform there is amazing, its a very wide area with lots of marble benches and perfect run up for each bench. There is no security  place is clean and not that crowded. The best to go there would be on Friday and in the morning when the place is empty.

Nozha

Nozha is located on the Nozha road between Heliopolis and Nasr City. The spot has 2 7 sets and a double set ( 3 flat 4 ). The spot is completely safe however there is this electronics store next to the double set that will at some point try to kick you out. I recommend that you do not try to argue with them and tell them that you will leave in 5-10 mins.
