Airport

I found this spot last summer when i was skating near the gap outside the terminal 1 building and i noticed this spot but it was time for me to leave. a few weeks ago i came to this spot again with a couple of skaters, Omar Amir, Mohamed Amgad and Ahmed Maged and we filmed some sick tricks on these gaps. And now the spot is being visited by a lot of skaters in Cairo. The floor is a slippery as butter and from the shininess of the marble platform you can see your face. It has several gaps with decent run up and decent landing. A lot of tricks can be done in this spot. Please take a look at the pictures at the gallery.

Obour Spot

This spot has been around for a while but i happened to just get photos of it a few hours ago. It has a couple of benches that you can grind or possibly manual on them. There’s also another part of this spot where its all gaps and sets and a small but very steap round bank. It also has an 8 set with good runup and good landing aswell. There is also a huge 3 set possible as long as 3 sets from wallenberg but some people might not find the run up enough for them. However i have tried this gap and seems to work fine with me. Here are some pictures of the spot

Bank Skate Spot

This spot is located on the nasr road about 2 mins from tiba, its also very near to the Nasr City Ahly Club.
A lot of people have seen this spot but never really got the chance to skate. I took the risk to be the first to skate and observe the security outcome. It turns out that one of my friends from school happens to live there. I talked to him and asked him if he can ask the securities to allow me to skate the spot. The conclusion ended up being that we can only skate on Friday after 4pm ( to be honest its better than not skating it at all).

The moment u lay your eyes on this spot you will suddenly be confused. This spot looks nothing like any other Egyptian skate spot. It has a lot of steep ledges as shown in the pictures below, the ground is good and you can easily wall ride on those steep ledges/banks. Here’s something for our advanced skaters, next to the ledges there is a 10 set and an 8 set both with enough run-up. There is also a marble ledge with the height of 40cm. All ledges/banks are marble, however you do need to wax the obstacle before doing any grinds/slides.

Add those spots to your guide because they are all very amusing to skate.
Spot: Cairo International Airport

Tre Flip Position
For a tre flip, what you want to do is you want to put your back foot – and you want to put your toes hanging off a little bit – right where it starts to curve. When you first learn, you want to put your front foot close together so you actually get the spin. And once you start getting them down you want to move your foot up more and more – and the higher your foot is up, the more control you have over it. You might flip a little bit slower but it’s easier to control it.

How to Tre Flip
As you’re popping down, the whole thing’s with your back foot – just scoop back behind you with your back foot, and you do a little kick out the front. You don’t need to kick too hard – just your ankle – and it will start to rotate like that. It’s pretty much like a scissor kick: once your back foot goes behind you, your front foot goes in front of you. And then you land it.

How to Practice a Tre Flip

Don’t ever practice them stationary. Just practice it moving – because once you get them moving, then you’ll get them stationary. It’s weird, but that’s what happens

Common Problems with the 360 flip

A problem that a lot of people have is that either the board goes in front of them or the board goes behind them. It’s usually because you’re leaning too far forward or too far back, and if it over-flips, just don’t kick as hard. When you first learn them you might just start doing varial flips and it will keep hitting you – you just have to work out how to scoop with your back foot to get it all the way around. You don’t even have to worry about the flip, just worry about the scoop until it spins all the way.

Keep practicing, try it out yourself and if you have some questions logon to the Forum and get informed.

Technique:
1. Push a few times to get going.

2. Set up your feet in the same position you would for a regular ollie. Bend your knees and get ready to do a frontside 180.

3. Turn your shoulders slightly in the opposite direction the you’re going to spin. This is a wind up.

4. Pop the tail as hard as you can and unwind your shoulders and continue to turn them until they have rotated 180 degrees frontside. The momentum will help you rotate. When you pop it should be like a normal ollie, unwind and turn your feet with the board.

5. That previous step is written all weird. It’s hard to explain how a 180 works. Just try it a few times.

6. Land riding switch or fakie and roll away.

Additional Help:

Problem: I can’t rotate the complete 180.
Reason: You are not spinning fast enough, or you are not going high enough to complete the rotation.
Solution: Don’t forget to wind up for the trick. Unwind your shoulders and be sure to follow through with your legs. Also, if you aren’t going high enough, try to pop your tail harder and jump higher. When I first tried this trick I could only turn about 90 degrees and would slide the rest, or kickturn the rest. After practice I learned to do the whole 180, so keep trying.

This trick is a bit difficult than B/s Pop shove-it, it is consisting of turning the board underneath you 180 degrees as if you were doing a F/s 180 ollie, but without the body varial. Meaning the board turns the opposite way of the B/s Pop shove-it.

* Set your back foot on the heel side corner of the tail, your front foot behind the bolts with your toes hanging off the side.
* Bend your knees, jump to the back popping the board with a scoop to make it start turning.
* Quickly take your front foot off the board to be out of the board’s way.
* Watch the board until it’s nearly half turned, straighten up your legs to catch it.

*Note: In F/s pop shove-it the board turns behind you, this is why you have to jump to the back to stay over it and land.

The frontside flip is a combination of an ollie, a frontside 180 , and a kickflip. Once you get your kickflips down, and your frontside 180 ollies, you’re going to try and get the flip right.

1. Make sure you know your ollie and you get your kickflips everytime you do them.

2. Set your front foot up at a 30 degree angle instead of a 45 degree angle like the kickflip.

3.Put your back foot on the back concave towards your backside.

4. Pop and scoop your back foot and turn 180.

5. Flick at more of a down angle then a kickflip so it flips under you and dosen’t go over your legs

6. Stick your landing good and hard, try it bolts every time. Make sure you really stomp it down or you’ll find yourself kicking out

* One day you’re going to try and get the flip right, like Sharief Moghazy shows you.

NOTE: A. Already have your body turned halfway so you don’t have to turn full 180
B. NO MATTER HOW MANY TRIES YOU DO…. YOU KEEP GETTING BETTER AT IT. Don’t think that you are never going to do it!

Keep practicing, try it out yourself and if you have some questions logon to the Forum and get informed.

The Ollie is probably the most important trick in skateboarding since it makes you able to jump with your skateboard. This is the most basic street trick and most of the tricks depend on it this is why it should be your first trick to learn after being able to push.

It is a quite hard trick which needs patience, lots of practice and time to learn it pretty well. Do not lose hope if you cannot do it after 3-4 weeks of trying, it takes sometime to perfect it and be able to ollie over stuff.

Allan Ollie Gelfand was the first guy who did an ollie on vert ramp in 1977. Rodney Mullen was the first who took it onto flat ground.

1.A

1.B

1.Set your feet like shown in the picture if your stance is Goofy(1.A) or Regular(1.B) putting your front foot across the middle of your board with your heels hanging off the side. Put your back foot on the tail with the ball of your foot in the middle

2. Bend your knees, and it’s all about timing when you jump.

3. While jumping, snap the board with your back foot to the ground and at the same time drag your front foot up towards the nose.

*Note: Snapping your tail to the ground (called POP) makes the board get airborne and get off the ground. Dragging your front foot up takes the board higher and level it out so you can land on 4 wheels.

4. While dragging your front foot up, you have to pull your back leg up towards your chest so it doesn’t stop the board from leveling out.

5. With the board leveled out in the air, straighten up your legs.

6. Bend your legs to cushion up the landing.

*Note: The pop and dragging your front foot are done at about the same time, and here lies the smaller trick that makes you able to ollie.

This timing you should comprehend and discover yourself because you have to feel it. Even if lots of people keep explaining you the timing, you will not be able to do it until you feel the right timing and your brain learns what exactly to do.

Keep practicing, try it out yourself and if you have some questions logon to the Forum and get informed.

Description:
While rolling the skateboarder jumps and turn his/her body 180 degrees backside and the board turns a backside 180 as well.

Technique:
1. Push a few times to get going.

2. Set up your feet in the same position you would for a regular ollie. Bend your knees and get ready to do a backside 180.

3. Turn your shoulders slightly in the opposite direction the you’re going to spin. This is a wind up.

Video: Tiba Mall – Cairo

4. Pop the tail as hard as you can and unwind your shoulders and continue to turn them until they have rotated 180 degrees backside.

Keep practicing, try it out yourself and if you have some questions log on to the Forum and get informed.
