Dear skateboarders,

Every skater was talking and asking lately about the upcoming movie that features for the first time the Egyptian Skateboarding scene and specifically the Alexandria skateboarding scene.

We are happy that Yassin Koptan who is a key rider for skateimpact was chosen as character in the movie, accompanied in some scenes by Karim alexander and Amin Rida.

Microphone movie is produced by Mohamed Hefzy – Film Clinic, Co-producer Khaled abol naga and directed by the talented director Ahmad Abdalla.

The story goes as folowing,a young man named Khaled returns to his native city of Alexandria after an extended sojourn abroad, only to realize that the people he left behind, namely his girlfriend and his family, have moved on. His girlfriend has decided to emigrate and his father wants nothing to do with him. Alone and disconsolate, he takes to the streets and falls down the proverbial rabbit hole. In his absence, Alexandria itself has suffered something of a major change, morphing into a modern city, full of hip-hop musicians, graffiti artists, filmmakers and emancipated young women. Enraptured by this new incarnation of his hometown, Khaled attempts to get in on the action, as it were, cobbling together whatever money he has to give back to the community, and support this burgeoning creative movement. But as Khaled’s personal and professional life become inextricably intertwined, he too undergoes a significant change.
Ahmad Abdalla (Heliopolis) brings juice and youthful fervour to the action, buoyed by some remarkable musical performances (most of which are provided by non-professional musicians that call Alexandria home). On rooftop sessions with punk rock girl bands, or in dingy underground venues, the surging life of a genuine youth quake is going on. This form of DIY culture creates a vivid portrait of an Egyptian city and its people in the midst of a vibrant cultural revolution. An exciting addition to a growing wave of North African cinema, Microphone is bursting with life, sound and energy.

Well here is the sypnosis of the movie,

When Khaled returns to Alexandria after years of travel he discovers that it is too late to rekindle a relationship wit his old love because she is about to immigrate and that his relationship with his aging father is broken beyond repair. Self absorbed, he roams the city and stumbles over the underground art scene: Hip-hop singers who perform on sidewalks, female rock musicians on rooftops, graffiti artists who confront the city with their shocking murals in the darkness of the night. He is mesmerized by the discovery of this world and his life gradually changes. With his limited resources and connections, he tries to support this movement and draw attention to the diverse facets of his city. Details of his private life and events of this movement overlap. He awaits an inevitable change that he believes will come from the dynamic and unique art scene in Alexandria rather than from Cairo, Egypt’s overpopulated capital.
‘Microphone’ is a vibrant image of this colorful music and art movement. It is a real narrative of this new generation of artists from Alexandria and the intricate details of their lives.

Ok, this was the only I could present in this weekly cover haha, I got nothing else for now, I better go get some new material though!

When the official trailer comes out I(hopefully) will be the first to tell you, im not sure when the movie is going to hit the cinemas but when I get a confirmation I will blog it haha =)

Hey hey,

Im back, well I was never gone just busy and whatever, Welcome to my Fifth Weekly Cover

Ok I dont have alot to talk about but Skateboarders in Alexandria are really impressing me by the day and Im really proud of them, one of them which I’ll be posting alot of footages and images of him is Mohamed Ibrahim, He is indeed a great skater.

These days he is really progressing, he shocked me when he told me today that he nailed a Nollie Varial Heelflip on a 4 set and almost nailed it a Nollie Big Heelflip, this kid has got talent and has a bright future in skateboarding, also I wanted to talk about Ziad Ashraf, you know the tall guy with the Punk rock styled long hair, yeah he is “bangin” which his manuals and combos, he has been in skateboarding for a long time and deserves the best in skateboarding and finally I want to talk about a skateboarder that truly is making the skateboarding scene in Egypt better and he is Khaled Ayman. He is a creative skateboarder witch talent in Editing and Filming. He made “The Tribes” which is like a skateboarding team but with better aims and goals and he is currently filming for a big skateboarding movie that is going to be a great impact in the skateboarding scene, he always has a session every week in different locations with competitons and the winners get prizes, he is indeed important to the skateboarding community and I wish him luck with everything.

To be honest I wasnt planning on writing about skateboarders in Alexandria but they all impress me and make me want to skate.

anyway, you probably wondering why I havent been posting any weekly covers, well I forgot to tell you that after 5 weekly covers theres going to be a 2 week break, and I know its way past 2 weeks but the thing is that I travelled to France and UK so I had no time and I still dont since Im still in London!

Its kind of impossible for me to cover skaters in Egypt while in London, it will suck and we dont want that right?

So here is a quick update!
