Skateimpact.com proudly presents the new team formation.
Meet the Team: Karim Forsberg, Yassin Koptan, Amin Rida.

These skaters have been riding for the last 4 years shredding spots inside and out of Egypt.  Skateimpact proudly supports their efforts sponsoring them to give them the reason to always go for more.  It has been the one and only goal of Skateimpact is to develop, propagate and place proper foundation of skateboarding in Egypt…  and it will always be.

Yassin (a.k.a Bling) and Amin, have been riding as Flow Team for the past years until they have reached the point they are definately noticed everywhere.  They never stop, they always seek proper skills development while they never stopped to have fun on the board either.

Skateboarding in Egypt is entering a new era, and you can be part of it.  Flow team to be announced soon, we will always keep an eye on those of you who have got the art of riding and ripping everywhere.

Well Im sorry for posting late, I’ve been busy all day skating and I didnt get the chance to update the cover!

Also Ill talk about last weeks Engineering College AKA “Koleyet el handasa” session which was amazing!

Ok, There wont be an event on GSD done by Redbull , so they will make a better event later this year, I know I know, Its not the same as having that event as GSD but better late than never. Here is what I know, I called Omar Herrawi and he told me that  we are probably going to meet up in cairo and skate like every skater in the world does, you know Old School Style!… We might go to alot of spots like Airport |
Salsa and other spots,

Look guys, its go skate day, not go skate day in an organized place, the main purpose of this day is to skate, skate anywhere and thats what matters. Skater all over the world skate wherever they can skate and they get kicked out and get arrested so lets just meet up at where we are going and skate.

Ok second thing I wanted to discuss was last weeks sesh, Damn it was good! First I would like to thank Mohamed Adel for taking the pictures and giving it to us, they were 1549 pictures of skating and I picked the best pics! I ended up with 292 and ill post some today and you can see others later on Facebook or something. We have some sequences which I will post later but check out these pics…

Ok Thats not all the pics, but ill be uplaoding them somewhere else!

Miss me? =) well welcome to my second weeklycover, I hope you guys are having fun and are doing good on your tests, well lets hope I do well :S

Today I have some stuff i want to share with you, We went to film yesterday morning and we got some sick footage and oh we also took sick pics! seriously we have great sequences and great pictures that I”ll be sharing soon all thanks to a guy called Moe Adel.

Yesterday, We filmed some stuff and while Karim Alexander was filming he bailed and well this is what happened to him:

Ouch right but as always, despite his cut he continued on after going to the pharmacy to cover it and ended his line with an explosive treflip

Pretty Sick!

Yesterday was also not a “perfect” day, Our friend “Ahmed Rashwan” tried one of the hardest and sickest spots in Egypt and broke his leg, this was his first day in summer and he broke it and it was his second time breaking his leg. His parents wont let him skate again.. I think but I sure hope he does and skates safely, Here is a video of him trying it aout 3 months ago but that wasnt the bail in which he broke his leg. Ahmed was one of the most progressing skaters I have ever seen, he stocked us in only 1 year and here’s something, He was the first to try the spot you are about to, we call it “Mini Megaramp” !

This spot is big, real big, but its a fun and trippy spot too, we only skate there 7 AM because of an old guy that comes around 10 and kicks us out.

Hmmm.. You are probably wondering why I didnt write about GSD!!! But I got some stuff to write about
Ok Rumours say that it’s going to be ina place called Oasis Park or somthing and there is going to be freshpark ramps and Fully Sized Skate obstacles and finally I think there is going to be some sort of an international competition there.But Dont get pumped up, Im not 100% certain, Just wait for it to be posted =)

Hey Skaters,

Whats up? and welcome to the first issue of Weekly Cover. If you missed my introduction on this issue then here is what I’ll do. COVER EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS IN EGYPT RELATED TO SKATEBOARDING.

Yes its that simple..

Ok Today I’ll talk about 3 things and the first thing I want to discuss(becuase its the shortest) is the fact that you can now view Skateimpact’s mag from you mobile phone, Mag for Mobile pretty cool huh, you can view it from either your Iphone or Blackberry. dont be cheap, it only takes 58 KB so now you can view the mag from anywhere.

Second thing I would like to cover is tricks.

Skaters are nailing new tricks every what? week so I’d like to discuss that, First skater I would like to talk about is an 9 year old with potential and bravery I have never seen in a kid before.

His name is Youssef aboldahab, He skates in sporting club only because his dad doesnt let him go to other spots because of his age, he is about 140 cm and has been skating for about less than a year I think. If you see him you wont believe it but what you see is what you get. A pro skater from mountain dew saw him in sporting club playing on the half pipe and couldn’t believe it.

Youssef just called me a few hours ago telling me that he landed the Nollie Kickflip and almost got a 360 flip!
Youssef can doublekickflip, Varial Kickflip, Sex change and do tricks that would stoke you despite his height.

You will see more of him in upcoming issue’s. Sorry I couldn’t a pic of him because he doesnt have facebook.

Here are the latest tricks landed:

Ahmad Ayman Ghoniem: Nollieheelflip 3 sets.
Karim Alexander: Double Kickflip 4 sets & Kickflip gap in Carrefour.
Yassin Koptan: Nollie Kickflip 4 Sets & switch inwardheelflip 1 set
Ziad Ashraf: Ollie Nose manual, shove it manual on a pad at carrefour.

This all the tricks I could gather for now, so make sure you send me your lastest landed tricks on my email bling[at]skateimpact[dot]com . Keep egypt updated and also you can send your friends latest updated tricks but please dont lie about them.

Ok here is my last segment in this issue, I want to talk about IRONMAN himself, not the comic book character its Ruda Hilal.

He is one of the most exciting skaters in Egypt, A french aussie/lebenease skater that experienced
something someone will never be able to imagine. On 22/6/2009 a day right after GSD, he fell from the 3rd Floor while skating on the roof,

“I smashed my left legs bone from 12 different places and my right leg had a crack down at the ankle & I fractured 2 vertebras in my spine”

The story is very dramatic and unbeliveable but its all true.

What happened was we were skating on the roof top of the 3rd floor, the lights went out, I was very stupid for me to keep skating after that, I didn’t realize i got too close to the wall, I went over board, was going head down first, grabbed a thin and weak branch, the branch spun me back to my feet, Went down 9 meters, smashed the floor, hard ground, heavy fall OUCH!! but  I’m lucky to b alive and I’m really grateful for that”

Your probably wondering how he felt when he fell but don’t worry I have all the details =)

“Impact was so hard i did feel anything break at that moment but after like 2 min my leg was the size of a balloon. I tried picking it up and i saw like this weird thing popping out when i lifted my leg. I tried to lift it then all the pain came”

Ruda faced multiple surgeries, he travelled to Australia & UK to recover

I had a major surgery on my left leg which took 4 hours; they put 12 screws and a steel bar in my leg.

“They didn’t check my spine and after 2 months they saw that my spines vertebras 11 and 12 had wedge fractures and one was missing half of its size. The doctors were amazed. It took 2 months without moving and then when i started to move that’s when i knew something was wrong with my back so i checked it out, The doctors couldn’t believe I was walking with my back like that they couldn’t do nothing about my spine cause it was held in the wrong position for 2 months, they told me I wouldn’t b able to run much nor jump or pretty much do anything but I didn’t listen to them hahaha. I was training, Trying my best to get back and at the end I  did everything they told me i couldn’t do”

Well don’t worry he still skates and is better than ever

“Now I’m back to skating and I guess when people see me now they would never  believe that any of this happened to me”

Whats new??? well there as you all have noticed, the mag just got renewed and The website just got a New Look.

Well ” Weekly Covers” is like a small segment i started in the blog so I can let all people in Egypt get the latest news about whats happening right now…

I’ll be posting about events, changes in the team, latest landed sick tricks and other sick stuff that will keep ypu updated and motivated.
Ill be adding new stuff to this segment. im already thinking of something like Skater of the month? maybe or maybe not. Comment below if you would like to see that. I need some of your opinions about that.

Well I have to keep you updated so here is what I can say…

P.S: I havent decided which day of the week I’ll post my segment so wait for it.

At 7:50 AM, we got on the mini bus and started our journey to Cairo, we were 9 skaters and it was hell. At first there was noise mostly by me but then we started saying Jokes, for an about half an hour we kept laughing then Cherif decided to put on his ‘’Sleeping eye cover’’ and his ear plugs so he sleeps tight but Amin and I kept waking him up, then most of the skaters slept and I took pictures of them, it’s kind of a habit(lol).At 8:30 AM  We stopped at a gas station to buy our needs, have breakfast, cup of coffee or tea and go to the restrooms as it was extremely clean and the smell was amazing (lol), I was speechless.
After we finished, we went off to Cairo without any more stops. Omar brought with him a ‘’Skim boarding’’ video and it was really sick especially a skim boarder called ‘’Paulo’’.
We arrived at 10:35 AM and then we went to ‘’Tiba Mall’’ to sk8 until prayers, when we came down then mini bus, Ahmed Ghoneim, Mohamed Ibrahim and Ziad Ashraf were so excited as it was a spot they never saw except in skate videos such as ‘’First Impression’’. We kept skating for about an hour and then Amin broke his truck but I had an extra truck so I gave it to him, and then he broke something in his wheels along with his bearings but I was there to rescue him (lol) and then ‘’Oozy’’ joined us, the Alex crew greeted him and then we put our boards aside and went to pray in a nearby mosque.

After we finished prayers, we went to ‘’Tiba Mall’’ to sk8, 45 minutes later 2 women wearing Redbull shirts and carrying a huge shaped Redbull can bag joined us, they gave everyone Free and unlimited Redbull and that gave us too much energy, every skater did his best to impress them so they can know how sick and good Egyptian skaters are, later on ‘’Hazem Mishriki’’ arrived and he seemed pumped up and ready to sk8. We only skated on the 4 sets, Karim Alexander really nailed some awesome Pressure & Tre flips on the 4 sets. Amin rida as always landed some gnarly first attempts Hardflips on the 4 sets as they were as easy as ollies to him and also made some perfect Heelflips. oozy impressed everyone with his HUGE BS Flip on the 4 sets and his Nollie Heelflip so as Mohamed Ibrahim with his BS Flip. Ahmed Ghoneim made high levelled Kickflips on the 4 sets and I nailed it Fs Flip, Switchflip and Heelflip also Ziad Ashraf attempted to do an Ollie to Manual to Ollie out on the 4 sets and it was AMAZING, Mahmoud Bakr landed some awesome Heelflips that left us all speechless. Hazem kept impressing each skater with his high tricks on the 4 sets especially his Fs Kickflip.

At 2:00 PM, Men with a huge camera came and turns out it was ‘’OTV’’ if you’re not familiar to it, it is an Egyptian channel that hosts Arabic series and films special events, anyway they came and filmed the skaters skating on the 4 sets as Cherif was filming and photographing us and he did a job well done, Omar was with the Redbull crew telling them about skateboarding. OTV then took an interview with Omar, Cherif, me, Hazem and finally Amin. Karim Alexander would have been interviewed but he had camera fright. ‘’I don’t even talk to girls that much because I don’t know what to say to them, imagine what will I do I talked to a camera or an interviewer’’ Laughed Karim.
After we finished the interviews, The camera man gave Cherif their camera because they wanted Cherif to film Hazem a line, Cherif agreed and filmed him, ‘’its so heavy its 8 kilograms like the man said, I feel like my arm is lighter’’ said Cherif. Also the montage director of the OTV interviews decided to ride a skateboard and well, it didn’t even last 2 seconds (lol).

At 4:30 PM we left Tiba mall and went to the ‘’Cairo International Airport’’ known as the ‘’Airport’’, we met with the Redbull crew again. When we first arrived we found a local skater called ‘’Maysara’’ AKA Masman skating there all alone, and that impressed me because most of the skaters don’t like to sk8 alone, afterwards Yehia ,Amr Badr(Arto), Hani Mostafa, Nader Maslic and other locals arrived. We kept skating on Cherif’s Rail that we brought with us and all the skaters kept nailing gnarly tricks try after try.
Surprisingly Ahmed Ghoneim Tried the hubba a Noseslide but failed but he was this close and at least he was brave enough to try it, Karim, Amin and Myself attempted the ledge gap beside it and Ollie and nailed it on the 3rd try.

At 6:30 PM we took a group photo and then we were off to Alexandria, we were kind of sad because we wanted to stay more but we had to go to eat at ‘’Dandy mall’’, Karim Arafa joined us to the journey back and when we arrived at ‘’Dandy mall’’ we all spread out to eat in ‘’McDonald’s’, ‘’KFC’’ and ‘’Hardees’’, we ate there and we were so comfortable but then Karim Arafa, Karim Alexander and I grabbed our boards and skated in a big free section beside the parking.

We left there at 7:30 PM and turns out that Ahmed and Ziad bought a thriller movie called ‘’House of wax’’, half of us were terrified and our reactions were hilarious, after the movie finished we watched the ‘’Skim boarding’’ movie again and at 10:45 we found our self’s in Alexandria.
We thanked Cherif and Omar for the awesome trip and session. I went back home, I was very tired because I didn’t sleep at all but I slept like a baby and was proud to be part of history in Cairo.
